An Egyptian Hanafi scholar of grammar, language and exegesis who read the seven and ten readings with Taqi al-Din Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Sa'igh. He served as judge of the army and mufti of the Dar al-'Adl, taught at the Ibn Tulun Mosque, and wrote al-Tadhkira on grammar and a commentary on Ibn Malik's Alfiyya.
