A blind Egyptian Qur'an teacher of Abbasid descent who married al-Shatibi's daughter, hence 'al-Shatibi's son-in-law', and read the readings with him. He became the chief Qur'an teacher of Egypt; al-Taqi al-Sa'igh was among his students.
