Abu Muslim al-Katib was a Baghdadi who settled in Egypt and lived to a great age, giving him a short chain of transmission; he served as secretary to the vizier Ibn Hinzaba. He heard Kitab al-Sab'a from its author Ibn Mujahid and passed it on to Abu Amr al-Dani.
