The great Andalusian authority on Qur'an readings and orthography, born in Cordoba and settled in Denia. He travelled east, studying with Tahir ibn Ghalbun, Faris ibn Ahmad and others, and wrote al-Taysir, Jami' al-Bayan, al-Muqni' and al-Muhkam. Abu Dawud Sulayman ibn Najah was his student; he died in Denia.
