Biography

The author of the Shatibiyya poem on the seven readings, born in Jativa in al-Andalus; he took the readings from Ibn Hudhayl and others in Valencia. He moved to Egypt and taught there, al-Sakhawi being among his students; he also wrote 'Aqilat Atrab al-Qasa'id and Nazimat al-Zuhr, and died in Cairo.
