Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash al-Asadi of Kufa, known as Shu'ba, one of the two transmitters of Asim's reading. He read the Qur'an to Asim ibn Abi al-Najud several times and lived in Kufa. Students of his reading and hadith included Yahya ibn Adam and al-Kisa'i, and Ahmad ibn Hanbal and Yahya ibn Ma'in narrated from him.
