Egyptian Hanbali reciter born in al-Demerdash, Cairo, and trained at al-Azhar's Institute of Qira'at. He read with Ahmad Abd al-Aziz al-Zayyat, Mustafa Mansur al-Bajuri, Muhammad Mustafa al-Malwani and Ibrahim Shahata al-Samannudi, taught at the Institute, led several maqra'as including al-Azhar's, and was known as head of Egypt's Qur'an reciters. He died in Cairo in September 2016.
