Andalusian reciter of Valencia, one of the foremost students of Abu Amr al-Dani, who also studied with Abu al-Walid al-Baji and Ibn Abd al-Barr. He wrote al-Tabyin li-Hija' al-Tanzil on Qur'anic orthography and an abridgement of it. Ali ibn Hudhayl was among his students. He died in Valencia in 496 AH.
