Luqman is remembered for eight verses in the middle of it: a father's advice to his son, given without any authority except wisdom. It is the shortest complete curriculum for raising a child in the Qur'an.
At this pace the whole surah takes 12 study days.
Study days are days you actually sit down to memorise — miss one and the plan simply moves with you.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ الٓمٓ…ٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦ ۚ بَلِ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ
A mercy for those who do good; the one who buys diverting speech to mislead; and the heavens raised without pillars you can see.
Study days 1-4
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا لُقْمَٰنَ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ أَنِ ٱشْكُرْ لِلَّهِ ۚ وَمَن…وَٱغْضُضْ مِن صَوْتِكَ ۚ إِنَّ أَنكَرَ ٱلْأَصْوَٰتِ لَصَوْتُ ٱلْحَمِيرِ
Do not associate anything with Allah; thank your parents; a mustard seed will be brought forth; establish prayer, be patient, do not turn your cheek in scorn, and lower your voice.
Study days 4-7
أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِى…نَفْسٌۢ بِأَىِّ أَرْضٍۢ تَمُوتُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌۢ
If every tree were pens and the sea ink, His words would not run out — and the knowledge of the Hour, the rain, the womb, tomorrow, and where a person dies.
Study days 7-12
The advice moves from belief, to parents, to the certainty of accounting, to prayer, to enjoining good, to patience, to how you walk and how loudly you speak — in that order.
