Al-Fatiha is seven verses that every Muslim recites at least seventeen times a day, and it divides exactly in half: four verses of praise addressed to Allah, one verse that belongs to both sides, and two verses of request. Knowing where the halves meet is what turns recitation into conversation.
At this pace the whole surah takes 3 study days.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ…مَٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
The Basmala, praise of the Lord of all worlds, His mercy, and His ownership of the Day of Recompense.
Study days 1-2
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
The one verse the hadith qudsi places between the servant and his Lord: worship and help are asked of Him alone.
Study days 2-2
ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ…ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
The straight path asked for, and the two roads that are not it.
Study days 2-3
The surah asks for one thing only — guidance — and it asks for it after four verses of praise, which is the order every supplication is taught in.
