Ar-Rum opens with a prediction that a defeated empire would win again within a few years, and then builds outwards: nine signs in the world, the natural disposition every person is born on, and what happens to a land after rain.
At this pace the whole surah takes 20 study days.
Study days are days you actually sit down to memorise — miss one and the plan simply moves with you.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ الٓمٓ…مِنَ ٱلْحَىِّ وَيُحْىِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ
And will be victorious within a few years; travel and see how those before ended, and the day the Hour comes.
Study days 1-7
وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَنْ خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍۢ ثُمَّ إِذَآ…يَهْدِى مَنْ أَضَلَّ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَ
You from dust, spouses for tranquillity, the difference of tongues and colours, your sleep by night, and the lightning.
Study days 7-10
فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًۭا ۚ فِطْرَتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى فَطَرَ…وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
The upright religion man is created upon; the sects that split; and what usury does not increase while zakat does.
Study days 10-15
وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَن يُرْسِلَ ٱلرِّيَاحَ مُبَشِّرَٰتٍۢ وَلِيُذِيقَكُم مِّن…وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّۭ ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَخِفَّنَّكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُوقِنُونَ
Rain sent and the earth revived after death; created from weakness, then strength, then weakness again — so be patient.
Study days 16-20
The signs listed — sleep, spouses, the difference of languages and colours, lightning — are all things people take as ordinary, which is precisely the argument.
