Al-Muzzammil is the surah of the night prayer: it commanded standing most of the night, and its final verse — revealed much later — lifted that obligation and left what is easy. The surah contains both the burden and its relief.
At this pace the whole surah takes 7 study days.
Study days are days you actually sit down to memorise — miss one and the plan simply moves with you.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ…ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًۭا
Half of it, or a little less or more; recite measuredly, for a weighty word is about to be laid on you.
Study days 1-3
وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًۭا جَمِيلًۭا…هَٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا
Shackles and a choking food, the day the earth and mountains shake — and a messenger sent to Pharaoh as one was sent to you.
Study days 4-7
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَىِ…وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًۭا ۚ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۢ
He knew you could not keep it up, and turned to you: so recite what is easy of the Qur'an, establish prayer, give zakat and lend Allah a goodly loan.
Study days 7-7
The reason given for night prayer is practical: what is said then is weightier and lands better, because the day is full of long occupations.
