Al-Mursalat repeats one sentence ten times — 'woe that Day to the deniers' — and between the repetitions it asks a series of questions about things the listener already accepts: did We not destroy the former peoples, did We not create you from a fluid, did We not make the earth a container.
At this pace the whole surah takes 17 study days.
Study days are days you actually sit down to memorise — miss one and the plan simply moves with you.
Five oaths by the winds and the angels; the stars extinguished, the sky split, and the messengers' appointed time.
Study days 1-5
Destroy the former peoples, create you from a despised fluid, make the earth a container for the living and the dead, and set firm mountains and sweet water.
Study days 6-10
A shadow of three columns that shades nothing, the day they cannot speak — and the God-fearing among springs — then: in what statement after this will they believe?
Study days 10-17
It closes by asking what statement they will believe in after this one, which is the question the whole surah has been building towards.
A short walk through all 3 sections of this surah, in the order you will memorise them.
Book a first lesson with a Quran teacher and bring this schedule with you. Many of our teachers offer that first lesson free.
