Al-Layl divides human striving in two and follows each to its end: the one who gives and fears Allah is eased towards ease, and the one who withholds and thinks himself self-sufficient is eased towards hardship.
At this pace the whole surah takes 7 study days.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ…وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ
By the night, the day and what created male and female — the giver eased to ease, the withholder to hardship.
Study days 1-4
إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ…وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ
Guidance is upon Us; the fire only the most wretched enters, and the one who gives his wealth to purify himself.
Study days 4-7
Both men are 'made easy' — the surah's point is that habit runs in whichever direction you start it, which is why the first act matters more than it looks.
