Al-'Ankabut opens by asking whether people thought they would be left alone merely for saying 'we believe', and answers with a series of prophets who were tested. Its title comes from a parable about a house that looks like shelter and is not.
At this pace the whole surah takes 23 study days.
Study days are days you actually sit down to memorise — miss one and the plan simply moves with you.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ الٓمٓ…مَّعَ أَثْقَالِهِمْ ۖ وَلَيُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ
Those before them were tested; be good to parents but do not obey them in shirk; and those who say 'carry our sins' will carry nothing.
Study days 1-5
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فَلَبِثَ فِيهِمْ أَلْفَ…وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
Nuh's thousand years but fifty, Ibrahim and the fire, Lut, Shu'ayb, 'Ad, Thamud, Qarun, Pharaoh and Haman — each taken in a different way.
Study days 5-14
مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْلِيَآءَ كَمَثَلِ…وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ وَكَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ
The frailest of houses; the parables Allah strikes for people; and: you did not recite any book before this, nor write one.
Study days 14-18
وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِٱلْعَذَابِ ۚ وَلَوْلَآ أَجَلٌۭ مُّسَمًّۭى لَّجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُم…جَٰهَدُوا۟ فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَمَعَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
The demand to hasten the punishment, every soul tasting death, the creature that carries no provision — and those who strive for Us are guided to Our ways.
Study days 18-23
The parable of the spider is not about weakness of thread but of house — the surah's charge is that the whole structure gives no protection, however fine it looks.
