Al-Anfal is the surah of Badr, and it begins with a dispute over the spoils rather than a celebration of the victory. It then explains the battle as something arranged rather than won, and legislates for what comes after a fight.
At this pace the whole surah takes 25 study days.
Study days are days you actually sit down to memorise — miss one and the plan simply moves with you.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْأَنفَالِ ۖ قُلِ…فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
The believers described in four verses; the drowsiness sent as security, the rain, and the angels — and you did not throw when you threw.
Study days 1-7
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْا۟…فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَوْلَىٰكُمْ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَ ٱلنَّصِيرُ
Respond to Allah and the Messenger when He calls you to what gives you life; and fear a trial that will not strike only the wrongdoers among you.
Study days 7-14
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُم مِّن شَىْءٍۢ فَأَنَّ لِلَّهِ خُمُسَهُۥ…يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ حَسْبُكَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
The division of what is gained; do not be like those who left their homes boastfully; prepare what force you can — and if they incline to peace, incline to it.
Study days 14-22
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ حَرِّضِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى ٱلْقِتَالِ ۚ إِن يَكُن…فِى كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۢ
The lightening of the ratio; the captives of Badr; and those who migrated and those who gave shelter — they are allies of one another.
Study days 22-25
It says the small number the Muslims saw in the enemy, and the small number the enemy saw in them, were both shown deliberately — the surah credits the outcome to what people were made to see.
