An Egyptian Qur'an teacher known as al-Khatib al-Sha'ar, a student of the master reader Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Mutawalli. His best-known student was Ali Muhammad al-Dabba', later head of Egypt's Qur'an reading circles, who read the whole of Ibn al-Jazari's al-Nashr to him in 1338 AH.
