A Shafi'i reader and Sufi from Damietta, where he was born and raised. He took the seven and ten readings from Sultan al-Mizahi, and also studied with Jalal al-Din al-Fariskuri, Mustafa al-Tilyani and Yasin al-Himsi. He wrote on the readings and other subjects, and Ahmad ibn Umar al-Isqati was among his students. He died in 1117 AH.
