Sad opens on the chiefs of Quraysh walking out of a meeting and closes on Iblis refusing to bow. Between them are three kings tested — Dawud, Sulayman and Ayyub — each of whom turned back.
At this pace the whole surah takes 30 study days.
Study days are days you actually sit down to memorise — miss one and the plan simply moves with you.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ صٓ ۚ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ذِى ٱلذِّكْرِ…وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
'Has the reminder been sent down to him among us?'; the nations before them; and: they are only waiting for a single blast.
Study days 1-6
ٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُۥدَ ذَا…وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍۢ
The mountains and birds glorifying with him, the two disputants over the ewes, the judgement and the repentance — and the horses that made Sulayman forget.
Study days 6-14
وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ…إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَحَقٌّۭ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ ٱلنَّارِ
Strike with your foot — a cool spring; the men of strength and vision; and two groups blaming each other as they enter.
Study days 14-22
قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ مُنذِرٌۭ ۖ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ إِلَّا…وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُۥ بَعْدَ حِينٍۭ
Created from clay and honoured with the Spirit; the refusal out of pride, the respite asked for, and the exception of the sincere servants.
Study days 22-30
The three tests are of judgement, of wealth and of health, and the surah records the same word after each: he was an excellent servant, for he was ever turning back.
