Sibt al-Khayyat was the chief Qur'an reader of Baghdad in his time and a scholar of Arabic, born and died in Baghdad. He led prayer at the Ibn Jarda mosque for over fifty years and wrote al-Mubhij, al-Ijaz, al-Kifaya, al-Rawda and al-Tabsira on the readings; Taj al-Din al-Kindi was among his students.
