1. Overview

Kuttab.com is an educational platform that connects students and teachers for live, online learning. We facilitate class scheduling, secure payments, and tutor-student interaction but are not a party to direct agreements between users.

2. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Kuttab.com may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable laws.

3. Tutor Compensation and Payment Terms

  • For classes booked before November 1, 2026, Kuttab.com pays tutors 90% of the class fee, minus applicable withdrawal or currency conversion fees.
  • For classes booked on or after November 1, 2026, Kuttab.com pays tutors 50% of the fee for the first lesson between a student and a tutor, and 85% of the fee for every later lesson with the same student and for group classes, packages and courses, minus applicable withdrawal or currency conversion fees.
  • If a student's first lesson with a tutor is cancelled or refunded, the student's next lesson with that tutor counts as the first lesson.
  • Card processing fees are paid by the student at checkout.
  • We do not charge tutors for free classes or for classes paid directly by students.
  • Funds are held in your wallet until withdrawn using the available options.

14. Modifications

We may revise these Terms periodically. Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms. We encourage users to review this page regularly.

15. Ijazaat (certificates in reciting the Qur'an)

Kuttab keeps a register of ijazaat in reciting the Qur'an. This section applies when you send an ijazah to the register, report a problem with one, or confirm one you granted.

  1. What the register records. Only ijazaat in reciting the Qur'an. It does not record ijazaat in texts or poems (such as the Tuhfa or the Jazariyya), university degrees, or course certificates.
  2. Who may send one. Anyone, with or without an account, and the ijazah may belong to someone else. It is recorded under the names written on it — first the shaykh who granted it, then the student who received it — and never under the name of the person who sent it.
  3. Daily limit. Up to 3 certificates a day for each account or, without an account, for each internet address.
  4. What you promise and allow. By sending a certificate you promise that the file is a true copy of a real certificate and that nothing in it has been changed. You also allow Kuttab to keep the file, read it, and publish what is written on it as this section describes (in addition to section 6).
  5. A code at once. Every certificate gets a permanent code and QR code as soon as it is sent. Until it is read and registered, its page says "Received — being read" and shows no names.
  6. How it is read. Kuttab reads each certificate with the help of an AI assistant (Claude, made by Anthropic) that reads the picture. When the chain is complete, the certificate may be registered before a person at Kuttab has checked it against the certificate itself; its page shows "Reviewed" once a person has.
  7. What is published. A registered certificate's page shows the names, the chain, and the details written on it. The picture of the certificate itself is not shown unless the student who received it allows it.
  8. Names. We publish the name of the student who received the ijazah in full, as the certificate writes it, unless they have asked us to show only their first name. They can ask through "Report a problem" on the certificate's page; the person who sent the certificate can also ask through "Ask for a change" in "My ijazaat". The names of the shaykh who granted it and of everyone in its chain are always published as written.
  9. A record, not an endorsement. The register records what the certificate says. It does not prove the ijazah is genuine, and Kuttab does not endorse the ijazah, the shaykh or the student. The shaykh who granted it may confirm it from their own Kuttab account once that account is linked to their name in the register; the page then says so.
  10. Changes and reports. The person who sent a certificate cannot delete it. From "My ijazaat" in the dashboard they can ask Kuttab to remove it from the register, hide its page, hide some of its details, or correct something on it. Anyone, without an account, can use "Report a problem" on a certificate's page, and anyone named on a certificate can write to [email protected]. A person at Kuttab reads each request and decides.
  11. Kuttab's decision. Kuttab may hold, decline or remove any record at any time — for example when pages are missing, when it is not an ijazah in reciting the Qur'an, or when a report shows it is wrong.
