An Egyptian scholar of the readings, born in 1914. He read the seven readings with Abd al-Shafi Duban and the ten with Ahmad Abd al-Aziz al-Zayyat, worked as a schoolteacher until retiring in 1974, then gave himself to teaching and writing. He wrote more than forty books, the best known being Faridat al-Dahr on the ten readings. He died in Sha'ban 1430 AH.
