Mustafa ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Izmiri was a Turkish-born Hanafi scholar, counted among the foremost experts in the readings and tajwid after Ibn al-Jazari, who settled and died in Egypt. He studied with Muhammad al-Ushri, Yusuf Efendi-zade and Hijazi, and Ahmad al-Rashidi was among his students. His works include 'Umdat al-'Irfan, its commentary Bada'i' al-Burhan, and Tahrir al-Nashr.
