A reader of Medinan origin who settled in Egypt; he was Warsh's best-known and most exact student, staying with him for years and succeeding him as teacher in Egypt. Isma'il ibn Abd Allah al-Nahhas, Muhammad ibn Sa'id al-Anmati, Abu Bakr ibn Sayf and Muwas ibn Sahl read with him. He died around 240 AH.
