Abu Bakr Shu'ayb ibn Ayyub al-Sarifini of Wasit was a precise, trusted reader. He took the reading from Yahya ibn Adam. Muhammad ibn Awn, Ahmad ibn Yusuf al-Qafila'i, Yusuf ibn Ya'qub al-Wasiti and Ahmad ibn Sa'id al-Darir read with him, and Niftawayh heard the readings from him. He died in Wasit in 261 AH.
