Abu al-Walid Hisham ibn Ammar ibn Nusayr al-Sulami was the leading Qur'an reader, hadith scholar, preacher and mufti of Damascus. He is one of the two famous transmitters of the reading of Ibn Amir of Syria, and al-Bukhari, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah narrated from him. He was born in 153 AH and died in Damascus in 245 AH.
