Makin al-Din Tahir ibn Muhammad al-Nuwayri al-Qahiri al-Maliki, head of Qur'an teaching at the mosque of Ibn Tulun. He read the ten readings with Ibn al-Jazari up to al-Nisa' and studied with Ibn Marzuq; Al-Sakhawi, al-Sanhuri, al-Qalasadi and Zakariyya al-Ansari studied with him. He died in Rabi' al-Awwal 856 AH.
