A Shafi'i reciter of Baghdadi and Wasiti origin who settled in Egypt and headed Qur'an teaching there. He read under Taqi al-Din al-Sa'igh, and Ibn al-Jazari read under him during his visits to Egypt. He wrote a commentary on al-Shatibiyya.
