An Egyptian reciter from Shubra Bas in Menoufia, blind from the age of five. He read the seven readings of al-Shatibiyya under Ahmad Abd al-Ghani, then al-Shatibiyya, al-Durra and Hamza's reading via al-Tayyiba under Mahmud Muhammad Khabbut. He earned a doctorate from al-Azhar in 1962, taught in its Faculty of Usul al-Din, and died in Cairo.
