Wajih al-Din Abd al-Rahman ibn Ali al-Shaybani, known as Ibn al-Dayba', was a Shafi'i historian and hadith scholar of Zabid, born in 866 AH. He learned the Qur'an readings from his maternal uncle Muhammad al-Tayyib ibn Isma'il Mubariz and studied hadith with Zayn al-Din Ahmad al-Sharji. His works include Taysir al-Wusul ila Jami' al-Usul and Bughyat al-Mustafid, a history of Zabid. He died in Zabid in 944 AH.
