Abu al-Hasan Muhyi al-Din al-Kurdi of Damascus, a Shafi'i born in Damascus in 1330 AH. He memorised the Qur'an in Damascene circles and read the readings by the Shatibiyya and Durra with Izzi al-Irqsusi, Fayiz al-Dayr'atani and Abd al-Aziz Uyun al-Sud, also studying with Abd al-Karim al-Rifa'i and Muhammad Salih al-Aqqad. He taught in Damascus and Medina; his students include Ayman Rushdi Suwayd and Usama Hijazi. He died on Friday 16 Sha'ban 1430 AH, nearly a hundred years old.
