One of the two transmitters of Asim's reading, a Kufan of Banu Asad known by his kunya Abu Bakr. He read with Asim ibn Abi al-Najud; Yahya ibn Adam, Abu Yusuf al-A'sha and al-Kisa'i read with him, and Ahmad ibn Hanbal and Ibn al-Mubarak narrated hadith from him. He died in Kufa in Jumada al-Ula 193 AH.
