Shaykh Abd al-Hakim Abd al-Latif, originally from al-Tuwayrat in Upper Egypt, born in Cairo in 1936. A graduate of the Institute of Readings, he read with Ahmad Abd al-Aziz al-Zayyat, Ibrahim Ali Shahata al-Samannudi, Amir al-Sayyid Uthman and others. He headed several Qur'an circles, above all at al-Azhar for about forty years, and became Shaykh of all Egyptian Qur'an circles. He died on 9 September 2016.
