Abu Ja'far Ahmad ibn Umar ibn Hafs al-Kindi, known as al-Waki'i, was a blind hadith master and reciter from Kufa who settled in Baghdad. He took the letters of Asim's reading from Yahya ibn Adam and narrated from Waki' ibn al-Jarrah and Hafs ibn Ghiyath. His son Ibrahim, Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj and Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated from him. He died in Safar 235 AH.
