An Egyptian reciter and editor from Sharqiyya who read the ten readings with Ali al-Dabba'; some chains also link him to Abd al-Fattah Hunaydi. He edited about twenty works, including Abu Shama's Ibraz al-Ma'ani and Ibn al-Jazari's Taqrib al-Nashr, and served as deputy of the Egyptian Qur'an recitation authority at al-Azhar.
