Abu Isa Sulaym ibn Isa al-Hanafi of Kufa was the most exact and trusted student of Hamza al-Zayyat and succeeded him as the leading teacher of recitation in Kufa. Khalaf al-Bazzar, Khallad ibn Khalid and Abu Umar al-Duri took the reading from him. He died in Kufa.
