An Andalusian hadith scholar, exegete, historian and grammarian, born in Jaen, who lived in Malaga before settling in Granada and became the leading authority of his day in Arabic, hadith and tafsir. He read the Qur'an to Abu al-Hasan al-Shari and Abu al-Walid Isma'il ibn Yahya al-Azdi al-Attar, and Abu Hayyan al-Andalusi trained under him. His works include Milak al-Ta'wil, al-Burhan fi Tartib Suwar al-Qur'an and Silat al-Sila.
