Ahmad ibn Yasin al-Khiyari of Medina memorised the Quran in the schools of the Prophet's Mosque and read the seven readings of the Shatibiyya with his father Yasin al-Khiyari, shaykh of the readers there, then graduated from al-Azhar and joined the scholars of the Prophet's Mosque in 1345 AH. In 1353 he founded a school for tajwid and the ten readings that became a readings institute which he directed for ten years؛ he also ran the libraries of Medina and was deputy head of its body of readers, and Muhammad Mas'ud read the seven with him. Born in Medina in 1321 AH, he died there in 1380 AH.
