347 – 399 AH / 958/59 – 1008/09 CE No. 8 in the chain from the Prophet ﷺ مصر
Reciter born in Aleppo to a scholarly family; he learned the readings from his father Abu al-Tayyib ibn Ghalbun and travelled to Basra to read with Abu al-Hasan al-Hashimi. He settled in Egypt and wrote al-Tadhkira on the eight readings. His best-known students were Abu Amr al-Dani and Makki ibn Abi Talib. He died in Egypt in Shawwal 399 AH.
