80 – 148 AH / 699/700 – 765/66 CE No. 5 in the chain from the Prophet ﷺ الحجاز

Biography

One of the imams of the Prophet's household and a scholar of Medina, son of Muhammad al-Baqir. He was born in Medina in 80 AH; major scholars such as Abu Hanifa and Malik ibn Anas took from him, and Qur'an-reading chains name him as a teacher of Hamza al-Zayyat. He died in Medina in Shawwal 148 AH and was buried in al-Baqi'.
