Abu al-Fath Faris ibn Ahmad al-Himsi, a blind Qur'an reader born in Homs who settled in Egypt. He took the readings from Abd al-Baqi ibn al-Hasan and others; his most famous student was Abu Amr al-Dani, who praised his memory and precision. He wrote al-Munsha'at on the eight readings and died in Egypt.
