Shaykh Muhammad ibn Mahmud Shihab al-Din al-Ibyani was an Egyptian Qur'an reader from Ibyana in the Mutubas district of Kafr al-Sheikh. He read with the great scholar Muhammad al-Mutawalli as far as Surat al-Jinn and, after al-Mutawalli died, completed with his student Khalil al-Junayni. His best-known student was Fathallah Abu Samaha, later head of the Qur'an schools of Beheira, who completed Hafs and then the seven readings with him in the 1950s.
