Abu Bakr Shu'ayb ibn Ayyub al-Sarifini, a trustworthy Qur'an reader and hadith narrator from Sarifin near Wasit. He took Asim's reading in Shu'ba's transmission from Yahya ibn Adam, and his students included Yusuf ibn Ya'qub al-Wasiti and Niftawayh. He died in Wasit.
