Shafi'i reciter and jurist from Damietta who studied in Cairo under Sultan al-Mazzahi and Ali al-Shabramallisi and travelled to the Hijaz and Yemen. He wrote Ithaf Fudala' al-Bashar on the fourteen readings and abridged al-Sira al-Halabiyya; Ahmad al-Isqati and Abu al-Nur al-Dimyati were among his students. He died on pilgrimage in Medina and was buried in al-Baqi'.
