Shaykh Muhammad ibn Sabiq of Alexandria, called 'al-Basir bi-Qalbihi' (sighted in his heart), was the leading authority for Qur'anic readings in Alexandria in the 13th century AH. He read the readings with Shaykh Khalil Amir al-Matubasi. His students included Hasan Bayyumi al-Karrak and Ahmad Hamid al-Tiji, later chief reciter of Mecca. He died in Alexandria in 1312 AH.
