Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Naqqash, of Mosul origin and settled in Baghdad, a reciter and exegete. He studied the readings from youth with Abu Rabi'a al-Rib'i, Harun al-Akhfash and others, and travelled from Egypt to Transoxiana. He wrote the tafsir Shifa' al-Sudur and works on the readings, including al-Sab'a and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir on the reciters. Many read with him, though hadith critics faulted his narrations. He died in 351 AH.
