Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Dimyati, Shihab al-Din, known as al-Banna, was a Qur'an-readings scholar of Damietta. He read with Sultan al-Mazzahi and Ali al-Shabramallisi and studied hadith with Ali al-Ajhuri and with Ibrahim al-Kurani in the Hijaz. He wrote Ithaf fudala' al-bashar fi al-qira'at al-arba'at ashar. He died in Medina on his way back from the pilgrimage in Muharram 1117 AH and was buried in al-Baqi'.
