Abu Abd al-Rahman Abdullah ibn Habib al-Sulami was a Kufan Successor born during the Prophet's lifetime. He read the Qur'an with Uthman, Ali, Zayd ibn Thabit, Ibn Mas'ud and Ubayy ibn Ka'b, and taught recitation in the great mosque of Kufa for about forty years. Asim ibn Abi al-Najud was among his students. He died in 74 AH according to the best-known report.
