Biografía

Shams al-Din Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Sa'id al-Makki, a Hanafi known as Ibn Aqila, was a Meccan scholar of the Qur'an and hadith, born and died in Mecca. He studied with Abu al-Baqa Hasan ibn Ali al-Ujaymi, and Muhammad al-Munayyir al-Samannudi was among his students in the readings. His best-known work is 'al-Ziyada wa-l-Ihsan fi Ulum al-Qur'an', a large encyclopedia of Qur'anic sciences. He died in 1150 AH.
