Muhammad Abid al-Sindi was born in Sehwan, north of Hyderabad in Sind, in 1190 AH, emigrated with his family to Yemen, lived in Zabid where he served as judge and studied with its scholars, went to Sana'a and was sent by its imam as an envoy to Egypt, and finally settled in Medina, where he headed its scholars. He read the seven readings of the Shatibiyya many times with his uncle Muhammad Husayn ibn Muhammad Murad al-Ansari, and wrote Hasr al-Sharid on his chains and works on hadith and fiqh. He died in Medina in 1257 AH.
